Biography

Shelly-Ann Taylor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences at AdventHealth University (AHU). She currently teaches Elementary Statistics, Introduction to Applied Statistics, Calculus I, and Pre-Calculus in addition to a myriad of algebra courses. Professor Taylor earned her B.S. in Mathematics from Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica. She was hired by the Cayman Islands Conference of SDA to pioneer the Mathematics Department at Cayman Academy. She developed the mathematics curriculum, in addition to teaching Mathematics and Physics. Subsequently, she taught Statistics with an emphasis in Business as an Adjunct Faculty at the International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI). She continued her education at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), Melbourne. While at FIT, she worked as a Graduate Student Assistant, conducting math labs in Calculus I and II. After completing her M.S. in Applied Mathematics, Professor Taylor joined the faculty at AHU. As a member of the American Mathematical Society, she volunteers as a judge for the undergraduate mathematics poster competition as one of her most treasured activities. As an educator who pursues her research interests in Probability and Stochastic Processes, as well as, Financial Mathematics, she would like her students to develop the aptitude and appreciation for mathematics and realize how mathematics can be applied in their respective fields.
