Nel Thomas is an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Generic Bachelor of Science nursing program (GBSN) at Adventist University of Health Sciences (ADU). She received the BSN and RN from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan; M.A. in Family and Community Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, Illinois; and MSN in Nursing Education from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is currently a PhD candidate in Nursing at Barry University, Miami, Florida. Her work experience includes Med-Surg Nurse, Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Educator, College Counselor and Nursing Faculty. Her research interests are in the areas of Mental Health, Integrative Care, and Health Promotion and Wellness. She is professionally active in the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, serving on the Board of the Florida Chapter for the past four years. She is also a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association; and is currently conducting a qualitative research on the integration of Complementary and Alternative Modalities of Care in nursing practice.
