About

Dr. Scott Bennie is the Vice Chair and Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. After earning his Bachelor of Science with a major in Life Science and Master of Physical Therapy degrees from Loma Linda University, (LLU) he started practicing physical therapy in a community hospital system, working with patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings. He began teaching as an adjunct professor in the physical therapy programs (PTA and PT) at LLU, teaching primarily in the areas of neuroanatomy and neuroscience, while pursuing and completing his Doctor of Science degree there. He also completed a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Management from La Sierra University. His clinical practice expanded into other areas including wound care, NICU, skilled nursing, and inpatient rehab. His experience in the management arena included roles as Director of Rehabilitation, Director of Clinical Services, and Area Director, where he started five outpatient clinics for a small hospital system. He went on to develop, and teach in, a physical therapist assistant program for Stanbridge College as the founding Program Director. He joined the ADU team in 2013 in order to develop the DPT program. Dr. Bennie is currently enrolled in the American Physical Therapy Association's Education Leadership Institute (ELI) Fellowship which is a yearlong, invitational fellowship program designed to develop emerging physical therapist education leaders with leadership skills to facilitate change, think strategically, and engage in public discourse to advance the physical therapy profession. His areas of research interest are evidence-based education (including interprofessional education and simulation) and health and wellness. He teaches: Patient/Client Management I: Basic Skills, Patient/Client Management II: Examination and Evaluation, and Neuroscience I.
