This course is a study of the fundamental principles of the chemistry of living organisms. Structures, properties, and functions of biomolecules, including amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleotides, nucleic acids, and biological membranes, and enzymatic catalysis and mechanisms, enzyme kinetics, and central pathways of metabolism will be studied. This course satisfies the requirement for a major or minor in chemistry.
