Healthcare is about restoration: that the sick may be made well, that the healthy will be kept in optimal health, and that the dying may find comfort. At the very core of healthcare is the opportunity to reveal God by the attitude and actions of the caregiver. The story of the Good Samaritan in the gospel of Luke, chapter 10, is the perfect biblical example of Healthcare as Ministry. At the end of the parable, Jesus commissions us to “Go and do the same,” to become His hands so that through us, others may experience His touch.
Dr. David Greenlaw, president of Adventist University of Health Sciences, talks about his vision for the College as an institution that teaches and demonstrates Healthcare as Ministry.
